Hi, I’m Lola — the hands, (mum) brain, late-night energy and mild fabric obsession behind Lolastar Studio.

I sewed the very first Mimi Bag for my daughter.

It was actually a prototype for a friend; she’s a full-ruffle girl, so I wanted to surprise her with something soft, squishy, and in a dopamine-fuelled print. I made a mini version for my daughter first, just to test the idea… and she loved it. She carried that little bag everywhere, and when I vlogged it, so many other people loved it too. That was the real “okay… maybe I’m onto something here” moment.

I’ve been sewing for more than 20 years, but 2025 was the year I made my first proper (wearable) bag — if we don’t count the tragic backpack I made a decade ago, which we absolutely won’t.

I’ve always been a DIY girl at heart. I love sewing, IKEA flat packs, building things, learning random new skills, and generally rolling up my sleeves to make something from scratch. Sewing has always been my calm place — the thing I turn to when I need to unwind after a long, overstimulating day… which is quite often since becoming a mum.

More nights than I can count, you’ll find me sewing at 2am, trying to turn scraps of fabric into something that feels like joy, whether that's a dress for me or a doll with an extensive wardrobe for my daughter.

There’s genuinely no better feeling than cutting pieces of fabric, sewing them together, and suddenly holding something you created with your own two hands. Something that didn’t exist a few hours ago and is completely unique to you.

Lolastar Studio is where I get to share that feeling — through the bags I make, and now the sewing patterns I’m slowly (and excitedly) building out.

For now, you’ll mostly catch me:
– vlogging the chaos on TikTok and YouTube
– chatting on my More than Motherhood podcast
– and buying fabric I absolutely do not need but will definitely justify somehow.
